Jacob Morrill & "Mable"

Back in 1999, Jacob Morrill joined the Traildog list to add to his research for a planned Appalachian Trail thru-hike. He posed quite a few questions to fellow subscriber Brian Simon, who walked it with his dog. Many, many aspiring thru-hikers join but I hear from so few of them later. Jacob, or "Jake," not only continued to correspond with us, but wrote some of the best stuff ever posted on Traildog.

Jake and "Mable," his Traildog, begin their narrative in Tennessee as they headed north in the spring of 2000. With a few small breaks, they take us all the way to the top of Katahdin.
