This is a collection of hand-outs, "go-bys", and other documents that searchers have found to be useful, educational, or even entertaining. You're welcome to reproduce them at no cost for personal use or SAR instruction. I only ask that you please retain the copyright information as well as the notes regarding the contributors to the documents' creation. I didn't think of anywhere close to everything in these. • Grid Reader - official USNG/FGDC combination 1:24000/1:25000 grid reader - this is an official US National Grid (UTM) reader from the Federal Geographic Data Committee. Suggestion: when printing, click on the "Advanced" button in the "Print" window to adjust to "print as image". Be certain that the printed reader indeed fits a 1:24000 or 1:25000 scale map
• Grid Reader - Mountainpathfinder - a triangular, "Romer" style grid reader that I am adopting as the standard for my FUNSAR and land navigation classes
• Hand-out - Pace Count Math/Pace Count Factor - describes how to use pace count to determine distance walked/to be walked; how to compute factor after walking a known distance; and a table that eliminates the math from figuring your pace count factor from your pace count on a 100-meter course
